Ken Welch

Ken began weaving in 1990 with a "loaner loom" from a friend. Over the years a passion for the art grew. Following retirement from ministry in 1993, a studio was built to house the three looms and the increasing stock of coloured cones of threads.

The blending of colours, the continuous amazement of patterns in the warp and weft intrigue the weaver who devotes more hours of each day to this hobby.

The varied greens of the cedars, the unique flowers of the Bruce Peninsula capture the attention of this weaver, and offer a challenge to express through colour what is seen in nature.

Handwoven scarfs, tea towels, clergy stoles, tartan scarfs, tartan place mats, tartan runners. Each piece is hand warped, handwoven, and hand finished. Woven with cotton, rayon, wool blends and acrylic.
