Steve Irvine
Steve started making pottery in 1968, and was a ceramics major at Sheridan College School of Crafts and Design from 1971-74. After leaving Sheridan he started a pottery studio in 1974 on the Bruce Peninsula which has been in full-time production since. Steve has received many awards including the John Mather Award from the Ontario Crafts Council for making a significant contribution to the development of craft in Ontario over an extended period of time. As well, he has received Purchase Awards from Fusion: The Ontario Clay and Glass Association; Crafts Grants for travel and research from the Ontario Arts Council; and a Voluteer Service Award from the Government of Ontario. Steve's works in both clay and photography are represented in numerous books and magazines around the world, and he is the author of over sixty craft related articles in national and international publications. Two recent solo exhibitions, "Collaborations with Chaos" and "Photons and Fire" explored the parallels between Chaos Theory and the creative process. Steve has been a member of the Owen Sound Artists' Co-operative since its inception.
